Registered Nurse Liz Kalina founded Elder Care Connections 15 years ago as a way to help older adults adjust to the changes brought on by aging.   Whether they were experiencing reduced mobility, a move to an assisted living community, or even dementia, she believed that with appropriate assistance they could maintain optimal independence and dignity. She found that with senior care, her holistic approach to caregiving, addressing both practical and emotional needs, helped seniors regain a sense of purpose, hope, and joy.

 

Equally important was the relief and happiness that families felt at seeing their loved ones so well cared for. Because so many adults now belong to the “Sandwich Generation” – supporting adolescent children while also caring for aging parents – she found a great need among families that had been stretched thin.

 

Elder Care Connections now employs 55 experienced care providers who provide senior care in Monroe, Owen, Brown, Greene, Lawrence, Morgan, and Harrison counties in south central Indiana. Its sister company, Elder Care Specialists, provides care management services in which one central contact person oversees any number of elder care areas including legal, financial, medical, and residential matters.
